I went to my school's library to find some books on drawing, and checked out Andrew Loomis' "Drawing the Head and Hands". It's INVALUABLE. So much useful information and techniques! I'm going to have to buy this book and then track down the other drawing books Loomis has made, because they're pretty much worth thier weight in gold to an amateur such as myself XD.

Onto the picture: Pencil sketch of Daniel Bedingfield, a singer. I used a picture from his "Gotta Get Thru This" CD booklet, although it's only partially accurate; the perspective angle of his face isn't quite how it is in the picture, and LOL I need to figure out how to shade blonde hair. I started it last night and finished it this afternoon, so maybe two or three hours?
Errrgh, I'm seeing more and more mistakes as I'm typing this... I think the best part of this picture is just the one ear TT.TT----
drawing realistically is very tough when you're first starting out, but keep working at it! i too was once in your shoes, unsure of what to do, or where to start. just keep studying the books and practicing. by looking at this, i can tell youre headed on the right track!
Now it's time for August 2008 Visual Art Features, many new art to discover!
Don't forget that many artists need to be viewed, they deserve it! Fave Fave Fave! My main purpose in doing a monthly feature about (to my point of view) 'the best visual art' is to put in the same level as well wellknown artists and popular creations as unknown artists and under-exposed creations. Artists need to be supported. So don't be shy!
Here's the Menu per Category :
