Mourning the Death of Summer

Journal Entry: Thu Sep 4, 2008, 5:07 PM
Okay so I entered this, [link] , in :icon-ee:'s coloring contest, and she's got the polls open for voting.

If you think it deserves it, I'd appreciate your vote. It's Entry two in the poll: [link] Thanks---

Yes, yes, summer has finally ended and school is alrady two days in. It's a tragedy D:!

Hehe, the first two days are always so odd, we just kinda sit there and listen to the teachers talk about the school rules and expectations. Not that the teachers want to either, but it's just policy.

We did get to play with chemicals in chemistry class, though 8D. Haha, Sodium bicarbonate, Calcium bicarbonate, and water. IT FIZZES.

I've got pretty sweet classes, teachers, and classmates, it looks like it's gonna be a spiffy year (As long as I don't get behind in my work, coughcough *procrastinator*.) My schedule looks something like this:

1- AP US History--- Cool teacher, Need to fid my sister's old textbook tonight for the class XD
2- Orchestra--- It's so much nicer earlier in the day. And we finally have enough people to get a really good sound, yes!
3- AP Statistics--- Augh, funny story. I was originally signed up for Pre-Calculus and Discrete Mathematics (which wins the award for most complicated class name ever), but the period I was set for was just suddenly disappeared... they dropped it D:. So I ended up taking the only other math class that was open that I hadn;t taken before, which is AP Stat. It's not too bad yet... Let's just say math's not exactly my favorite subject
4- AP Studio Art--- SO MUCH FUN *w*! I'm uploading more pictures from the class after this journal.
5- Chemistry--- The teacher's got the weirdest sense of humor, but it's cheesy and funny and it makes the class really interesting XD.
6- AP Language and Composition--- It's the first year this class is being offered, so I still don't know quite what to expect from it. From what I've gathered: lots of rhetoric, lots of essays. But I think I can handle that, lol. Most of my friends I see in this class, so it's a nice way to end the day ^^.

LOL OUR HALLS ARE SO CROWDED. I think we have more students than ever before, and the newer ones aren't quite used to moving around in such narrow halls. NO ONE CAN MOOOOOOVE DX

But anyways, nothing really special in this journal. Just updating, blah blah. How are your classes this year? Or are you already out and enjoying life without homework? I'm curious to know.

Peace out,
Kuenai

13,000 feet in the air *A*

Journal Entry: Sun Aug 3, 2008, 10:00 PM
I WENT SKYDIVING TODAY.

IT'S SO. MUCH. FUN.

It was my first skydive, too .

I wasn't even expecting to do so; I went with my mom to go watch some of her friends jump ('cause my mom doesn't like heights and didn't want to jump herself, lol). The weather had been kinda iffy in the morning, so the skydiving people were behind schedule and we had to wait an hour or two. I thought that I couldn't skydive because of age limits, but then my uncle said that I could with a parent's signature. He didn't need to tell me twice!

Well, my mom was nice enough to sign me up to jump with our group, and a little whlie later I was in this really green jumpsuit and climbing on this really tiny propellor plane. We went way up to 13,000 feet! (the view was really nice, I could even see boats and waterskiiers on this lake that was really far off.)

And suddenly, my feet are dangling outside the plane and I barely have time to think "Wow, this is really high up" before me and the instructor (first timers have to tandem jump) fly off the plane! WE DID AN AWESOME ROLLY FLIP THING. It was really amazing to be flying 100 miles per hour down, and trying to breathe without getting one's face cheeks all puffed up is an interesting task. We went through this huge cloud before the instructor pulled the parachute at about 4,000 feet.

I got to fly the parachute for a while, though the pulleys were pretty hard to, well, pull. We did a bunch of spins before we landed. (LOL when you tandem dive, you have to land on your butt. I managed skid most of the way on my feet, though, hehe).

ANYWAYS, that was my day. The whole thing was a blast. It's not scary, and there's none of that stomach-lurching sensation you get on roller coasters when you're falling. Honestly, the scariest part of the whole thing was taking off on the airplane (it was a really tiny one o.o). But, I guess what's scary depends on the individual. If you ever get the chance to skydive, do it! Seriously, it's worth it 8D.

How unbearably cute and quirky can you get?

[link]

It's such an awesome manga. No melodrama, just good ol' slice-of-life goodness. If i ever find it here in the US, I'm buying it :3.

Also, Nodame Cantabile is a manga that rates a 10/10 on the Kuenai scale ;P.

Perfect for all the band and orchestra geeks! *is one of said geeks* There's also an anime series which is defiitely worth watching. Rhapsody in Blueeeee... *A*

Anyways, hope life's going good for you! Until later,

Hi, everyone!

Well, I managed to be BRILLIANT enough to completely KILL my computer, hence the reason I haven't been on the last two weeks. It died for a pretty sad reason that I won't go into for thee sheer patheticity *cough* of it. But at least I finally found where my files were; I thought I had lost them ^^;...

Anyways, I've got some summer assignments for AP Studio Art that I'm thinkin' is gonna be lots of fun, keep an eye out for whenever I get them finished up ^^.

How have you all been? Anything exciting going on for you?

Later,
Kuenai
